It would seem that looking back a lot of corporate recruiters had a lot more things to do last year than recruit but now we are into 2010 it seems like they are all back down the gym trying to get back their strength. But, you lose it a lot quicker than you gain it so how long will it take to get back?

I am lucky to know some great technical people which allows me to do some clever split testing of copy to see what works for me. But should recruiters be getting into this level of detail for job adverts? I think they should.

As direct recruiters have to continuously prove themselves they will need to look to move ever closer to a "net zero cost-per-hire." If they don't, the RPO vendors will continue to circle ahead whilst the flat fee boys will nibble at their ankles; nice and friendly at first but they'll soon be wanting ever bigger bites!

What if your boss said you had to get your cost-per-hire to less than £100? Assuming you are smart enough to already have it to £500 then that is an 80% reduction! That's pretty much what Intel have had to work out for their new Atom chip.

Some people think of “the system” as their recruitment system which is fair enough. I am thinking about a lot more than just the ATS.
McDonalds is a hamburger joint to most people but to McDonalds Corporation it is the “system”. The end result just happens to be burgers and fries but Michael E. Gerber, author of the E-Myth, argues that having a system such as this will work for any business. A lot of what he says makes sense for recruitment.
