Recruitment 20??: You will sell "product"

As direct recruiters have to continuously prove themselves they will need to look to move ever closer to a "net zero cost-per-hire."  If they don't, the RPO vendors will continue to circle ahead whilst the flat fee boys will nibble at their ankles; nice and friendly at first but they'll soon be wanting ever bigger bites!

I suppose it depends which journalist you believe really. Whatever happens and wherever we are in this economic cycle I have decided to rename HR yet again. An old customer of mine always referred to HR as Human Remains but as a factory manager of 3000+ people he did have a few opinions about HR!  But that aside, I have decided that our fate lies in the hands of HR who are responsible for getting everyone back to work.

Aberdeen Group Report: HR Exec's Guide to Web 2.0

I read the above report yesterday/today and was pleased to see some of the evidence that supports the views of various people (including me) around the importance of using social media as part of your talent management strategy.

Onboarding new hires

A long time ago we put in place a system for a client called the First System.  It was designed to improve retention of new hires as they could show that where someone stayed beyond 12-months, they would often stay 3+ years.  But, 70% of new hires left BEFORE the first 12-months!
