@andyheadworth response to planted wind up question at Social Recruiting Workshop #SRWS

As most of you that attended the the workshop know, the WIFI was pretty poor. On some occasions it worked, on others it didn't. For Andy Headworth his presentation was full of promise but let down by the WIFI. Nick Price of Working Films who is producing the video for the day asked Andy how he felt about me cutting his WIFI half way through his live presentation (which I didn't of course). This was his response. The delay is amusing while he thinks of a suitable answer.

Thanks Andy :) Oh, and the Matt Alder interview is even better!

TRU London calling to the faraway towns

Now that recession is over-and recruitments back on

London calling to the recruitment world

Come out of the office, all you boys and girls

London calling, now don't look at us

All that phoney "no hiring" has bitten the dust

London calling, see we ain't got nothing

'Cept for the cost of that ticket thing

Listen to the original soundtrack - of course I can't write such a great song!!

So are you going to TRU London?

Best UK Recruitment Blog 2009 - New £1m Blogging Contract

And+the+winner+isSo after much debate over who would win Best UK Recruitment Blog 2009 I have managed to retain my crown for the third year running!

A big thank you to the people who voted for me.  Although some were hoping to see the win going to the South Coast it was not to be - yet!

Of course I am delighted to win again but I am also concerned at the lack of decent recruitment blogs we have in the UK; so what can we or should we be hoping for in 2010?

Best UK Recruitment Blog 2009 - Sirona streaks ahead

Sales graph

Don't worry, no naked pictures (this time).

I did a blind poll late last week and according to the results Sirona is out of the trap first and streaking ahead with the most votes so far.  But does he have the staying power.  According to @saraheadworth he always talks a good talk but is always over well before Liverpool kick-off.  Maybe he will the same winter of discontent as Rafa.  Or will @billboorman get his fruit cake follower to add nasty comments to this blog to persuade you in his favour?

He may be ahead right now but there are another 4 weeks of play to go.  Don't let the blind poll lead you astray.

Jedward may have gone (at long last) but Pandy are here to stay!!

Seth Godin may be wrong on this one?

Looks like Seth felt the urge to follow me (:>] in commenting on Rupert Murdoch thinking of blocking search engines from his site.

Best UK Recruitment Blog 2009 - Come on refereeeeeee

Thierry-henry

What is it with the referee of this very serious competition.  Having asked for my blog to be given the correct name in the list I am still waiting for it to be corrected.  A slight of hand on Louise's keyboard and the outcome could be impacted fairly but, by ignoring my plea's for fairness she leaves me with no option but to play on and hope for the best.  In the meantime, I have notified FIFA of my concerns.

Help me avoid legal action against FIFA; click here to vote today.

UPDATE: The referee has listened to my plea for equality and corrected my blog name.  Is this just a ruse to get me off the conspiracy theory trail?

Corporate Recruiters Handbook: 20+ years knowledge in 1 place for FREE

Crh-front-coverAs crazy as it may seem, I really am giving this Handbook away for free.

Not only does it include everything I have learn't over the last 20+ years, but it also comes with an e-mail support programme that goes into more detail on a section-by-section basis.

For example, if SEO is something you want to know more about, the support programme includes various reports and webinars to take you from the initial assessment included in the Handbook to actually making the changes.

So pre-order your own personal copy today at www.hirestrategies.co.uk/handbook.

P.S. Postage and packing is also free to anywhere in the World - but only for the first few hundred so get yours quick!

Best UK Recruitment Blog 2009 - Sirona and Botman conspire against me

Andy and Bill conspiracy

Sirona are out to win this year and have even pulled out the big guns to help (see Unblog point 4).  But maybe Andy needs to focus his efforts in helping out Rafa; or has he given up on European football and accepted that Leicester, Derby and Nottingham are more convenient than Manchester and London?  Looks like second place is his real calling.

Please help me stop this outrageous conspiracy; click here to vote!

Best UK Recruitment Blog 2009 - Louie's rules

Louis walsh

On what basis did the Top 10 become the Top 10.  Believe it or not, there was good reason.  Here follow the Top 10 rules with the blogs that offend Louie rule-by-rule.

  1. Writing a few recent posts is a good start. (Thoughts on online recruitment [not many thoughts!])
  2. You cannot just start writing again during the competition period. (Picture More)
  3. Your blog has to be interesting rather than dull, dull, dull. (GAAPWeb)
  4. Your blog must be your own and not a company blog. (Reckitt Benckiser)
  5. You cannot be a medley of experts just to get some volume of posts. (Digital Recruiting)
  6. You have to be original and not just a karaoke act. (Recruitment 2.0)
  7. Outright plagiarism is not acceptable - put some effort in. (Simply Better)
  8. Posts have to be more than a few lines of nothingness. (Enhance Media)
  9. You need to write something new not state the bleeding obvious. (RiseSmart)
  10. You must look like a blog star, sound like a blog star, and act like a blog star. (See this post)

Of course, some of you may well feel the rules have not been applied consistently.  Can I therefore refer you to the Louie Walsh Rule Book, rule 78, sub-section C, paragraph 4:

"The rules may be applied inconsistently to please the judge and any judgee considering this to be unfair - tough luck".

Please cast your votes; voting closes on December 14.  Click here to vote now.
