Hey you with the flashy career site.....
I am still asked "Who has the best career site?" There are many great looking sites but that means nothing if the owner has no idea about measurement and performance. Using a swimming analogy, the training needs to be specific for the race. Times show performance and levels of improvement. Training is tweaked accordingly based on results. And on it goes. Clear goals in mind, specific activities to improve performance, measures to show improvements/losses.
Over the years I have worked with many clients who have a goal(!) i.e. recruit enough people but do not have the "training" in place or the measures. Career sites sometimes have an analytics package in place which is part of the equation but then the data is not used. One example, was a client who was struggling to recruit a technical type of person. They had poured thousands of pounds into attracting these people. They had analytics but as they had not implemented this fully they were recruiting blind and results were very poor.
So I did a full recruitment audit. Their process had around 20 steps from career site to apply via an ATS. So much data was duplicated and even with limited data we could see the drop out rate from start of apply to completed application was looking like >80%. In summary, the process was reduced to 9 steps and search to completed application went up to 60% from initially an approximate 20%. Three (3) times the amount of applicants for no additional cost! It also meant that they should now get at least 3 times the return from any new successful attraction campaigns. BTW: The point being get your process sorted before you throw more money at attraction!
So, a flashy award winning website and state of the art ATS means very little if you do not bother to measure and improve your performance.
