#trulondon What was the ROI?

Trulondon

First of all I have to say well done to Bill Boorman for pulling off the most enjoyable social media event the UK has had so far this year.

But, was it just a great big jolly for the social media guru's that inhabit this earth to pump up each other's ego's with heartily applause (at the end of tracks), create more lovely video footage (for all their blogs) and generally drink beer (plenty of evidence to support this) while we all bowed to the greater force now known as social media?  And was there a positive ROI??

Personally, I didn't go to TRU expecting any kind of ROI and I'm sure others have the same view but at the same time think there was significant value in getting all of these people together in one place to share ideas, thoughts, experiences etc.  I'm sure many of us went away having enjoyed ourselves and now have some great new contacts so that for me is a big ROI.

But where does this leave the unconference from a corporate perspective?  Apart from it needing to be a bit more organised behind the scenes I think it has a place.  This could be recruitment agencies who work in a specific niche and use the unconference approach as part of their community building activities (more on this in another post) or for an ATS vendor who wants to bring together customers and prospective customers to share experiences of direct resourcing.  Of course the unconference format is just an extension of any kind of get together but with a social media spin but who cares?  What matters is that as a networking and knowledge sharing event it looked liked it worked and should be easily deployed elsewhere.

So Bill, you could be onto a winner and although I know there were quite a few other people who helped out on the day, in the event of outright meltdown, it would have been Bill Boorman that went down with it.
