If I were a recruiter would I.....

Confused

.....BLOG?

Here's how I see it now. If I were a recruiter I would want my company to have a recruitment blog to help with SEO, company updates, general recruitment stuff etc. Otherwise you end up with an award winning set of blogs a la PwC i.e. one or two posts a year from their young bloggers who do not appear to have the time, inclination or incentive to post more often.

Whereas, give a recruiter a Twitter account and it is easier for them to maintain and allows them to update candidates about specific recruitment activities they as individual recruiters are working on.

Blog = company. Twitter = recruiter.
Both = better SEO and conversations.

I'm a social media expert I am; really I am.....

Mountain guide

Would you go up a mountain with the dude that told everyone what an expert he was?  Or would you prefer to pick the quiet, rugged type who just got on with loading gear?

So many social media 'experts' have a big hang-up with anyone who calls themselves an expert so maybe we should see a few more guides. Social media is a journey so I reckon a few more experienced guides for those rich types who want to scale Mt Typepad, explore the Facebook Glacier or Tweet with the birds won't go amiss.

I'll see if I can get away with being a rugged mountain guide now! The demand for knowledge seems to be there.

Twitter business strategies

Sun Tzu

So many people are jumping into Twitter, including businesses, but how many do it with any thought or indeed as part of a strategy.

OK, so many don't really have a strategy but what if they did?

What would a Twitter strategy look like?

Here's a few for starters - people focused of course.

Not that I know much.

Ski world cup 2009

I'll be away trying to improve my skiing this week but will of course share my fun on Twitter.  So for the latest ski-tweets and a few twitpics follow me.  Assuming my Blackberry Bold performs as well as I do in the cold!

Recruitment API

My API

Imagine if employers, recruitment agencies, job boards, ad agencies (OK maybe that's a bit too ambitious), guru's and experts(!) opened up their businesses through a kind of API.

What would it mean? How would it help?  Would it help?

Could it save us all time and money?

The Origin of Talent Managment

Darwin Will organisations (HR) apply Darwin's theory that

"It's not the strongest or most intelligent that survive; it’s those that are willing and able to adapt and change."

When reviewing their people, and in some cases letting some go, who are they choosing and why? But more importantly, are HR themselves adapting to the new economic climate.

Are HR going to start maximising social media tools to become more efficient?

I hope so!
