Put some sizzle in your job ads

Frenchfood_2

Having just returned from my holiday in France I am still in 'French food' mode at lunch time.  Looking out at the rain (instead of sun) I thought about the fresh baguettes, fresh tomatoes and brie in olive oil, and cheap French wine that always tastes great in the sun.

So off I went to the kitchen in search of inspiration!

Alas, time was not on my side and being a house of fresh food only, the option of 'stick it in the oven and wait' was not an option.  Aha, I thought, I have freeze dried 'food' options.  The things we eat in the mountains always seem to taste so nice when huddled into a tent in the freezing rain, maybe they will suffice.

Norwegian freeze dried 'cod and potato casserole'.

Tear off top of pouch, add boiling water, stir thoroughly, close pouch, wait 5 minutes, stir again, add more water if required.

Serious but functional.

Tesco 'Morroccan style cous cous'.
Add boiling water, stir well, re-cover for 5 minutes, fluff grains (sounds almost edible) with a fork and serve.

Not exactly Gordon Ramsey but flffy grains sounded a bit more appealing.

Pot Noodle - 'chicken satay flavour'.
Rip off lid, wip out sachet, add boling water and stir, leave for (only) 2 minutes, stir again, grab fork and dig in!

Slight sexual overtones with a flavour to match; and it's only a pot noodle.

So, the Pot Noodle won the day.  None of them were anywhere close to France but under the circumstances Pot Noodle inspired me with their saucy language to give them the nod.

So which of the above match your job descriptions? I'd expect Three, Fat Face and Ann Summers to be more like Pot Noodle and the majority to be more like my Norwegian friends; functional and reliable but uninspiring.  But if your Tesco cous cous don't consider yourself a winner; it's probably the worst position to be in as Somerfield and Safeway found out!

Now I remember why I only eat this stuff when desperate!
