Google hiring and firing techniques

I think we are somewhat immune at the moment to the going's on over in Silicon Valley but this latest blog post about some of the results of acquisitions etc by Google won't help their employer brand.  Or maybe it won't make any difference whatsoever?

Did you sign Google's non-compete?  Good, you're fired!
