Cars do not crash; bad drivers do!

Most people that crash their cars rarely admit to it being their fault.  I'd also hazard a guess they blame someone or something else, but probably NOT the car.

So assuming I drive a Ford Focus and have a crash, does this make Ford cars 'not very good'?  Or what if I drive a BMW and crash?  Was I going too fast or are they useless cars?  Stupid I know.

So why is it I see the ATS being really badly driven, not been washed since day one, oil never changed, tyres bold, no petrol in the tank; left to rot in the garden whilst a taxi is used every day to get to work and back.  And that damned car blamed for everything.  Then someone else comes along, inherits the car and not surprisingly gets rid of the old wreck amidst rejoicing voices glad to see the back of the old wreck.

So, if the ATS gets into this state who's fault is it?  The garage?  The owner?  Someone needs to stop it happening as buying a new ATS is rarely the answer.  But vendors let it slide as they have a 3-year deal/cash in the bank, and the customer has blown their budget on agencies so won't/can't invest anymore money in the ATS.  A real lose-lose situation that helps no-one!

Maybe, just maybe, someone may start to listen and think a bit harder next time they buy an ATS and:

  • Get enough budget to pay for the servicing over 3-years.
  • Get an MOT EVERY 12-months.
  • Learn how to drive, and keep your skills up-to-date.
  • Have more than one driver and check they can actually drive.
  • Make sure you have money for petrol!

Otherwise you'll be buying yet another ATS that won't deliver what YOU have promised.  And don't think the vendors are off the hook; they're not!
