Social recruiting
I'm sure a lot of people are getting a bid fed up of social networking but I get the impression that the people who are fed up, are those that don't really know that much about it.
But that's like the kid that won't eat tomatoes because they don't like them but has never tried them!
For example, I was speaking to a friend earlier who is quite techy but has not used any of the social networks so was somewhat anti; but he didn't know why! But people like this will end up using social networking without even knowing. As more and more platforms become the norm, in the same way that many people use blogs without even knowing they are using a blog, I reckon the same will be seen for 'social networks'.
And one place we will see it, is in the recruiting space. We have just completed our Top 100 retail career sites research and will be publishing the final details in the next few weeks, but what I can share right now is that the best sites are not really that far ahead of the following crowd. So although there are some clear leaders with what looks like a lot of space between them and 'the others' it will not take a great effort for anyone to get their career site to start to incorporate social recruiting functions into their site and be at the forefront of corporate recruiting.
