RSS Jobposting debate
I'm going to open up this debate as there seems to be very different opinions from the US and UK about the validity of my two previous posts RSS - The death of eQuest and Broadbean and New job posting tool.
Before I start though, I have to point out one comment made on Dan's blog by Colin Minto - "the UK’s leading authority on traditional recruitment, on-line recruitment, e-HR and emerging staffing technology and software and its application in today’s employment marketplace".
"I expect RSS could be used to bulk post jobs to job boards, however, surely the only boards that could draw benefit from creating an RSS feed of client vacancies to their site are the free to post ones; e.g. reed.co.uk and Job Warehouse from Jobcentre Plus".
What a guru huh, doesn't even seem know how RSS works - post jobs to....!
LET US BEGIN!
So, in the green corner we have Danny 'boy' McGuire of job posting tool Broadbean. He may be younger and have more hair, but has he got the beans to keep up? We will see!!
And in the blue corner we have yours truly, described by my young opponent as management consultant, runner, soothsayer…
Rules of the game - make them up as we go along. The prize to include food and alcohol at a place of choice designated by the winner and paid for by the loser. Enter the ring if you dare Danny boy.........
Why do I think RSS is a killer app to 'traditional' job posting?
- It is zero cost to both employer and job board.
- Job boards will be able to go and get rather than have posted to them jobs they want to advertise and then map them directly to their database in the format they want. [you with this yet guru Colin?]
- Employers will be able have their jobs syndicated by numerous advertising channels, and track them very easily, without having to rely on an expensive third party tool or any ATS integration.

Alternative recruitment advertising methods include podcasting jobs.
