Its not just about technology
Recruitment will not be getting any easier in 2007; nothing new here then. With retail results due this month albeit with reasonable expactations, improved revenues and margins will still be sought. And as we keep on seeing, great companies continually need great talent.

But, spending more on recruitment advertising and implementing an ATS is nowhere near good enough on its' own. Employers need a slick process underpinned by good, knowledgeable recruiters; yes, you still need some people to recruit some people! Yet I often see both of these aspects missing. Whilst this has been kind of OK over the last few years, those that have fell behind are now beginning to review how they have been recruiting and spending millions with agencies; and are not planning on staying as they have been.
I expect to see some pretty aggressive recruiting going on across the retail sector so not only will recruiting become more difficult but so will retention. What do you need? As a first step, get some good recruiters. Even without an ATS, a small team of ex-recruiters can breing a lot of value and a very different perspective on how to recruit. Give them the rest, and you will quickly be leading rather than following. And from there, maybe other opportunities will come your way.
