Why Blog....

uCheez: Employment Site Shuffle

There seems to be much discussion around this.  Some seem to think that the e-recruitment blogs are only read by other e-rec related bloggers and their posts are primarily aimed at their peers.  I think in some cases this looks true, particularly as there have been a few tit-for-tat comments flying back and forth.  Some of the longer standing members of this 'community' seem to think that they have the right to be somewhat aggressive towards some of the new upstarts and vice versa, particularly if they dare question or comment on their posts.  Big fish, small pond, small fish, small pond - maybe, but who really cares!

Some of the blogs are aimed at our group but as they come from people of experience/expertise they are of value to the reader, even if he/she is from within.  Surely pretty much like an industry magazine, so what does this matter, surely it is good/useful etc.

I tend to blog for both fun and opinion but also for my target prospective customers.  But it has made me think a little more about the structure of my blog and the posts I make.  Yep, I'll start using categories to be to differentiate the posts but also think carefully about the titles, content etc.  Terms such as web 2.0 are getting quite a lot of traffic from the search engines so not only will I 'say' more about this type of topic, but I will also select these (possibly) better (commercially) posts to include the paid ads I sometime get to include.

I am starting my re-branded Hire Strategies newsletter in September and will refer to blogs each month with a selection of own recent favourite (and most relevant) posts plus those of others.  I think a blog is something that every business should have and aim to promote this in my newsletter, but need to demonstrate how they work by keeping mine up to date, relevant, interesting etc.

So, for those that don't like the reasons that others have for blogging, please go elsewhere rather than moan, bitch, whine.....
